Education in the State of Indiana is changing. The new buzzwords are College and Career Readiness. Opportunities for students are expanding.  In an effort to educate parents and families about the unique and outstanding opportunities available to our students at DeKalb High School we will be hosting a special evening to describe the special programs available to our students.

DeKalb High School offers several Education Pathways, Internship opportunities, early college and dual credit options along with traditional Advanced Placement (AP) courses for students that we believe will help students experience the rigor and relevance they desire while developing the relationships with teachers and peers that one would expect in a smaller learning community.

Parents and students are invited to an informational meeting which will give families the information needed to find the unique programs suited to your students’ needs.  This meeting is for DeKalb High School students currently enrolled in grades 9, 10 and 11.  Teachers and program directors will have fliers for individual programs and will be available after a brief presentation to answer questions and help students think through their options.  Pathway Programs highlighted on the night of February 20th will be Health Careers Education, Construction Technology, Project Lead the Way Pre-Engineering, the Academy of Finance, Agriculture Pathways and Information Technology.  Presentation of Introductory information begins at 6:30pm.  Presentation to last 40 minutes.

Advanced Placement Courses: Any current freshman, sophomore or junior interested in taking an Advanced Placement class next year or in the future should plan on attending this showcase with their parents.  The evening will include exhibits with textbooks and sample AP work.  Teachers will share their syllabus and expectations.
