DeKalb band students earn 35 gold awards

from the Star--Angola--DeKalb High School Band members earned awards at the Indiana State School Music Association District Solo and Ensemble contest Saturday in Angola.
     DeKalb students earned a total of 35 gold ratings,eight silver ratings and two bronze ratings.
     Results of the contest:

Solo Gold awards
     Flute--Jessica Dye, Mallorie McCoy, Hannah Johnston; clarinet--Trisha Lee, Abby Bainbridge; also saxophone--Mariah Escamilla, Jacob Brainbridge, Caylin Reed;  soprano saxophone--Mary Burris; trumpet-- Adam Hellerr, Jacob Good, Tyler Stuller, Jamie Eis, Nick Dye, Carson Force;  french horn--Maddie Hanes, Josh Sexton; trombone--Logan Gensic, Jacob Burris, Bryce Wessley;  marimba--Megan Stonestreet;  snare drum--JT Foley, Lucas Straw, Dominick Rainelli.

Solo silver awards
     Alto saxophone--Jordan McDaniel; baritone saxophone--Jacob Bainbridge; marimba--Paige Marks, Raven Blair-Lewis.

Ensemble gold awards
     Flute trio--Jessica Dye, Montana Sebert, Kelsey Aldrich; clarinet trio--Jerrica Hidy, Brandon Bishop, Trisha Lee;  flute quartets--Hannah Walls, Jessica Dye, Hannah Johnston, Mallorie McCoy;  Hanna Fetter, Kesley Aldrich, Mallorie McCoy, Hanna Walls; clarinet quartet--Tori Pfafman, Brandon Bishop, Ericka Poling, Miranda Ellert;  saxophone quartets--Brycen Spangler, Jordan McDaniel, Julio Padilla, Rachael Finchum; Ethan Bassett, Brandon Bishop, Taylor Doehrman, Jacob Bainbridge; Mary Burris, Trisha Lee, Mariah Escamilla, Alexis Darling; large woodwind ensemble--Jessica Dye, Mallorie McCoy, Dallas Krinop, Brandon Bishop, Austin King, Ericka Poling, Jordan McDaniel, Julio Padilla, Rachael Finchum, Alexis Darling, Dilan Frain, Reena Ramos; trumpet trio--Lake Osbun, Nick Dye, Jacob Bolen; large percussion ensemble--Lucas Straw, Raven Blair-Lewis, John foster, Celsei Westrick, Gage Mason, Dominick Rainelli, Caleb Smith, Daniel Estrada, Megan Stonestreet.

Ensemble bronze awards
     Brass trio--Jeb Swartz, Tayte Hackbush, Bryce Wessley;  brass quintet--Bryce Wessley, Levi Faylor, Seth Vetter, Jacob Good, Nick Dye.

State finalists
