DeKalb FFA Compete at the State Entomology & Crops Career Development Events!

On December 12, 2015, 12 DeKalb FFA members competed at the State Entomology and Crops Career Development Events at Purdue University. 


The Entomology team consisting of Leah Hefty, Vivian Mettert, Caitie Taylor and Ally Laker placed 8th overall and Hefty individually placed 10th.

The FFA Crops team of LeAnna Shearer, Brooke Evans and John Gurtner placed 8th and Shearer was individually 8th. 


The 4-H Crops team of Kylee Stout, Montana Kummer and Lucas Pomeroy placed 5th and Stout was 6th individually. 


The 4-H Crops team of Kendall Gilbert, Jared Black and Matthew Fifer placed 6th and Gilbert was individually 7th.

Students competing in Career 


Development events not only master skills pertaining to their contest but also develop several life skills including time management, transfer of learning, team cooperation, goal setting and study skills.
