“The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, offering them continuing opportunities to develop physically, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendships with their families, other special Olympic athletes and the community.”
After a few years of developing, DeKalb County is proud to have our very own Special Olympics Basketball team. In the beginning they barely had a team, and now today they have grown to include two teams that are going to be competing at the state level for the very first time.
DeKalb High School students on the team include: Josh White, Christopher Teets Jeffrey Minch, Brady Allen, Chad Grimm, Allan Sanders, Isaiah McNall, and Rex DePew.
Patsy DePew, serves as one of the assistant coaches for the team.
