AUBURN — Auburn Boy Scout Ruger Nester has earned Scouting’s highest honor, the Eagle Award. Nester is a member of Boy Scout Troop 169, chartered by the Auburn Presbyterian Church. He is the son of Scott and Sonia Nester.
To earn the award, Nester demonstrated citizenship, leadership qualities and outdoor skills. He earned 21 merit badges and spent summer camps at camp Chief Little Turtle near Ashley, whitewater rafting in West Virginia, camping and canoeing at Land Between the Lakes and camping in Michigan, spending time on North Manitou Island.
For his Eagle Scout service project, Nester built a pavilion for the Fairfield Community Building.
He received numerous letters of congratulation as well as an eagle statuette from the Auburn Kiwanis Club and an American flag from the Auburn Elks.
