HCE – New information for the 2014-2015 school year.

For the 2014-2015 school year, Health Careers Education will be offered through Impact Institute.  Students will apply for HCE through IMPACT Institute.  This will include a general vocational application, HCE application which includes 12 questions, High School Transcript, copy of PSAT/SAT/ACT scores, attendance record, and 3 teacher recommendation forms.

Mr. Everingham and Mrs. Kempf will be working with students to complete the application process.  Mrs. Price will conduct the interview process.

 Mrs. Price will remain the instructor of Health Careers Education for DeKalb and Eastside students, and rotations will remain at DeKalb Health, as well as other offices in DeKalb County.  The classroom component will also take place at DeKalb Health, which is a change from previous years.  

Students enrolled in the HCE program may earn up to six hours of dual credit through Ivy Tech Community College.
HCE students must provide their own transportation.

·         HLHS 100 Introduction to Health Careers – 3 credits

·         HLHS 101 Medical Terminology – 3 credits

o    Student must pass an Ivy Tech assessment exam in order to receive this credit.
