On Sunday, October 20, 2013 DeKalb County Special Olympics held a county bowling tournament at the Auburn Bowl.  County tournaments were held throughout the state.  Bowlers with qualifying scores will go on to the Area Tournaments.  DeKalb County Bowlers were qualifying for the November 2nd Area 3 Tournament in Fort Wayne at Pro Bowl West.  The bowlers at the DeKalb tournament at Auburn Bowl are ages 8-21.  These athletes practice at the Auburn Bowl from September through the end of October.  Adult bowlers (22 and up) from DeKalb Co. special Olympics practice and hold their county tournament at the Garrett Bowl.  This is the first year for county tournaments because the Area tournaments are at capacity.  Bowling is one of the most popular sports in Special Olympics.  Awards were handed out after the tournament and athletes, volunteers, and families enjoyed a pizza party at the bowling alley.
