The DeKalb County 4-H Poultry Show was held Monday morning during opening day of the DeKalb County Free Fall Fair.

Logan Worman won the Grand Champion Commercial Poultry award, while Lydia Replogle won the Reserve Grand Champion Poultry award.

“Winning today means quite a bit since they had the ban lifted, so it’s cool that I was able to come out and win,” said Worman.

A statewide ban on mingling of poultry due to an outbreak of avian flu was lifted Sept. 17.

At Monday’s show, 4-H participants took precautions by wearing plastic shoe coverings and keeping their poultry in disposable cardboard boxes until it was time to show the birds. A tarp covered the show arena floor, and participants were instructed to

then take their animals home after each category was judged.
